Add Decatur’s Holiday Gift Shoppe to your X-mas list

Decatur's Holiday Gift Shoppe wants to sell your art

For the past 16 years, the Decatur Area Arts Council (DAAC) has invited artists to sell original art and fine crafts at its annual holiday shop, Xmas ARTicles.

That’s happening again this year, but under a new, self-explanatory moniker: Holiday Gift Shoppe. Located in the Madden Arts Center in downtown Decatur, DAAC’s Holiday Gift Shoppe will open three weeks earlier than usual on the evening of Nov. 8, and will continue through Dec. 28, giving you plenty of time to shop for the art lover in your life — or to run in on Christmas Eve for a classy last-minute gift, as the case may be.

DAAC promises that despite these changes, artists can still expect the same easy process for consigning art work plus three additional weeks of sales. Artists are encouraged to submit a wide variety of affordable, “gifty” items such as jewelry and other wearable art, ornaments, ceramics, woodworking, textiles, painting, photography, decorations and floral wreaths.
