Danville’s biggest annual event drew thousands to Vermilion County Airport on Friday for the fourth consecutive year, and with good reason.

In addition to gazing at airborne creations by balloonists from as far as Kentucky, festival-goers could also enjoy all the traditional amenities of a Central Illinois fair, from children’s activities and cool tchotchkes on sale to live music and food stands — not just corn dogs and fried everything, but also top-notch barbecue, with some interesting discoveries along the way, like Zeke’s Eats gourmet donuts.

The fun went well into the night, with a balloon glow at dusk and a laser light show after dark, and it’s all happening again today — the gates don’t close until 10:30 pm.
