These are the four Dressbarn stores where you can still shop in CI

Shopping at a going-out-of-business sale can be a melancholy affair, especially if you wait too long and the shelves are going bare and the staff looks (understandably) glum. And yet it’s hard to resist, both because it’s a chance to say farewell to a familiar place, and because — OMG look at these prices!

As you probably heard by now, Dressbarn is the latest retail chain to announce that it’s winding down. “This decision was difficult, but necessary, as the Dressbarn chain has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today’s retail environment,” said Dressbarn Chief Financial Officer Steven Taylor in a news release.

About 650 Dressbarn stores employing about 6,800 people across the country are slated to close. There’s no exact timeline for the closures, so if you have a soft spot for the women’s workwear styles Dressbarn has been providing for over 50 years, you can continue to shop online and in-store for now. But since bargain-hunters are probably already swooping in, you may want to consider making a beeline for one of their four Central Illinois locations.
